It's the most wonderful time of year. That's right. March Madness is upon us. The conference tournaments are in full swing and the games are sure to be electric. The kids play their guts and amazing things always seem to happen from now until the game championship. Millions of people will enjoy these events as if they were a holiday. I know because I am one of them.
That being said, it is the only thing about March Madness is as boring as it gets. It's like the guy who calls all persons knows its cell phone game and wonder if they can see on TV. There is a phenomenon that exists each year at this time. Every year there are teams of the bubble teams are not teams in the tournament final. Therefore, it follows the screams of fans wherever they team has been stolen. Boo hoo. Do some teams are left out with a strong argument to be there? Yes. Some teams are probably given a shot or hit a seed higher for firms or ratings reasons. Probably. College sports fans wanted to big business. It is what they get. That's life. Thus, the moaning and groaning begins. There's nothing like spoiling the best sporting event on land and demonstrating a lack of perspective. After all, these are kids playing basketball and there are only 65 seats. Some teams are simply not be selected.
As talk of the slice and the selection starts Sunday creeps closer, something strange happens to the fans. Selective amnesia begins to exceed their brains. They are unable to recall the mistakes of the season – The problems of turnover, Shooting the bad poor, lack of rebounding. Bad Losses? What losses are bad? The severity varies from selective amnesia among its victims and can sometimes be difficult to detect. Also, to help you identify whether you are a person guilty of whining unjustifed due to amnesia selective, here's an example:
2nd week of January
Fan College Basketball:
Have you seen last Thurs night? Are you kidding me? One might think that these children would try blocking someone. They can not bounce at all … and not me started on defense. The team upsets or not covering the passing lanes. It's a surprise we did not soar by 30 the way we played. They do not show any heart. Moreover, their fault … forget it! They take terrible pictures. They do not pass-up. They better get their act together quickly.
1st week of March
Even a fan of college basketball:
Have you noticed that people say the team could not make the tournament? What do they smoking? Have they not watched this season?
We have beaten tough teams in the conference. They showed some real promise. We should have won fairly. If they exclude us is only a crime. They better not rob me … eh … their children in the team.
If this looks like someone you know, slap. If you agree, stop! If your team is on the bubble is for a reason. If the team had played as well today as you claim, there would be no doubt. Of course, we all want our favorite teams to do well and have the opportunity to shine in the big tournament. Sometimes it is not only in this way. Choices must be made and that is that. Keep it in perspective. If your team is not selected for the tournament, do not blather on helplessly for weeks. Do not dwell too much on it. Get over it.
Do not let March Madness selective amnesia that you control. You are better than that.
Relax and enjoy the games. Take a cool drink and a snack and find a comfortable chair to watch the best sporting event there is.
Follow your brackets. Hoops Talk with your father, brother or friends. Do predictions. Yell at the TV. Pump your fist. That's what it's all about, baby. Whatever you do, have fun with it. This is no time to wallow or to beat dead horses. It's time buzzer beaters and memorable plays.
Well, I'll watch my bubble team now.
