What is the Xbox 360 hard drive uses?
I'm trying to decide between buying a regular Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 Elite and the only difference I see is the hard drive capacity. If all games are on these discs, why do I need a hard drive at all?
Hard drives are used to store all the music stored on the Xbox, Xbox Live to download demos, videos downloaded from Xbox Live Add-ons downlode games for Xbox Live, the game content and most recently to install the games. You can now install the games that usually have about 4 GB. This greatly improves game performance and reduces noise and heat produced for the Xbox. You will be fine with an Xbox premium, because now come with a 60GB hard drive, but you can always sprinkle more if you are installing all your games, and buy the elite. I definitely do not recommend buying an Xbox without a hard drive though:)
