Why not the Sega Dreamcast?

My companion had a Dreamcast when I had a PS1 and I thought the graphics on the Dreamcast was great compared to the PS1, and as good as the PS2 when it was published. So why the Dreamcast and it was taken out of production? It looked like a console Ahead of its time, the graphics looked excellent, and really a wide range of games too. So what went wrong?

There are two major factors (and probably lots of small) that account for the Sega Dreamcast early demise: 1. Sony has had more support from party 3. Sony was supporting Quick overwhelming victory with his Sony Playstation, which was won by the overwhelming support and 3rd party advertising campaigns excellent (it did not help that the entries Sega and Nintendo was smaller market). 3 developers / publishers knew Sony Playstation 2 would be a popular console, as the PS, and rushed to support a huge library of games. Sega has a good support, but not as wide as that of Sony. Sega 3rd party support was strongest in Japan, leaving very hot market North American game (fast becoming the # 1 market in the world) to a game, even less, as several of the titles were not localized. Thus, Sega DC was a big hit in Japan (though still behind Sony PS2), and a marginal success at best the United States. This resulted in decreasing 3rd party support, less money for advertising, and reducing the presence of retail (shops were on the PS2 promoting DC, giving less space and games DC rack). 2. 1995 Sega had a very, very hard ~ 2000. The arcade market sank (mobile phones, cameras and home consoles is the hot thing in these years in Japan). Your hardware past (Saturn, 32X, Sega CD) were not great successes around the world, leaving them less capital to work. They had problems with 3 developers and publishers such as Sony's most exclusive insured. In 2000, Sega Enterprises, Ltd. initiated the restructuring to be more profitable. Renamed themselves SEGA Corporation. Restructured their development teams, reduce the bulk of its R & D team, and prepared to become 3rd developer / publisher main support for the PS2 and Gamecube. Sega, Isao Okawa, died in 2001. This seemed to be the sign that is necessary, and executed his plan and discontinued the Dreamcast. These major changes resulted in a rough 2002 and 2003, where they ultimately found themselves in the auction. This led to the margin between Sega and Sammy to form Sega Sammy Holdings. Since then, Sega Sammy Holdings moves cautiously Later, the release of smaller stocks and depend heavily on their licenses popular as Sonic. 2005 and 2006 were good years. Industry analysts predict that 2007 and 2008 will be years of disruption Sega Sammy Holdings, and start to see the flag game that we used to expect from Sega on an annual basis.
