How can you play multiplayer PS1 games on a PSP?
I have 2 PSP Slims with 3.80 M33-5 CFW. I downloaded the most resent IR Shell to what I heard that allows 2 players to play a PS1 game. But I can not go to work. Can anyone tell me how to make it work?
Well I just do this last week. You need the latest IR Shell (3.9), and a version of the COP, which works with your game. Play the game by itself to ensure that works out of the XMB. After confirming that you can start a PSX game, start IR Shell and try to run the game from there. If you start the game, then jump the next paragraph. If the game does not start up correctly, you probably need to run a review of the COP for IR Shell. Go to the File Manager and find this file (sorry, I have my PSP with me, so I'm going by memory here … may be a slight variation): ms0: / IRSHELL/PATCHES/3.8 / (can not think of name). prx prx Run the file via IR Shell and reset irshell, if not automatically reset. Now try starting the PSX game. Hopefully everything goes well. If not, email me c.childs07 @ gmail.com and I will help you troubleshoot. Enter the IR Shell configurator. Towards the end of the Setup menu, you'll see something that says "POPS 2-player ad-hoc support" Set it to Enabled. Now just keep in mind that the two PSP to run the game must be running the same exact copy of the PSX game, and runs through the same version of the COP. Now try starting the PSX game via IR Shell and it should say something like "Waiting for other players." Do this in the second PSP now (the first PSP will be the host) and then they will connect and play with 2 players! Note: Some games work better than others, and some versions of POPS work better than others. I think I had the best luck with version 3.51 POPS. IR Shell has a (rare) tendency to fall during the implementation 2 POPS sync-Player and games often loose each other in a few minutes. This was quite annoying while playing Crash Team Racing, and my PSP has me in 1st place, while my companion PSP is trying to lead me through a wall lol. Basically, it's good to try once or twice but do not use too often. It is very early (I think only the second version?) and still needs much work. Good luck!
