The Wii wrist strap may not be very durable, but Nintendo are very quick to resolve any warranty claims you may have.
The quality of materials and workmanship on the Wii is excellent. The Wiimote is strong enough to withstand being dropped by the young. Wii Nintendo usually sells very quickly, so get it when it is available at your local store.

How do I connect a game cube controller to play Wii virtual console games?
I want to buy Virtual Console games for Wii and the state I have to use a Nintendo GameCube controller. There is no place on the Wii to connect this type of controller. How does this work?
Driver Gamecube ports and memory card flips from the right (or down, if horizontal) to discover the ports of GameCube. The controller ports begin with slot 1 of the system front and the slot 4, near the back. In addition, you'll find memory card Nintendo GameCube ports. Slot A is on the right (or the top, horizontal) and Slot B is on the left (or down, horizontal). However, what most likely will not need to access the ports of the memory card (unless you're playing Nintendo GameCube), so you can keep them covered.
