Yes you can use the keyboard and mouse if they are USB. Simply plug into a slot on your PS3's USB and should work. As to what Linux is …. I'm assuming your sorta knew this kind of thing, so I'll put it simply. Linux is basically a single window. I say simple, because when you install it has almost nothing in it. In another sense, it almost makes Linux very complicated, using Yellow Dog Linux (I use that as I have) is not a feature that lets you install automated software (like Windows), but many programs do not support it so you have to install yourself. If I had to ask what Linux is that I would not go near it, because the brain burst. Feel free to have a go lol. Just remember that you have to antesde format your PS3 hard drive you can install.
