So you've decided to buy a PlayStation 3? You're not alone – to date more than 5.75 million units were sold in the world. You can not go wrong with a PS3 because it offers better graphics and value for gamers out there. The problem is that should you go for a 40GB, 60GB or 80GB hard drive?

There has also been a recent decline in prices for the 60GB model if you're interested in having more storage space and backwards compatibility. This is great news for those who hold off on buying a PS3 for price reasons. The Xbox 360 is comparable to the 60GB model, but you'll get a much better deal to buy a PlayStation 3.
The PS3 60GB will have four USB ports vs. the two ports the 40GB model contains. If you have a lot things you need to connect to your PS3, 60GB model may be the way to go.
If you love playing PlayStation 2 games, and have sold your old system, you want to get the 60GB version. In fact, the 60GB version is the most comprehensive feature of all three of your choice. If you want to have the characteristics the most and make the most of your money, the 60 GB version is a perfect fit for you. Hurry though, as Sony are phasing this version. No more units 60GB are being manufactured – once they sell that!
The HDD 80 GB may be good for people who want to turn their PlayStation 3 in a complete computer in itself. You can install Linux on the system and use it as you would any any PC.
However, many find that 80GB is simply too much and they could never hope to fill the hard disk. The 80GB version also has limited backward compatibility. It contains the same number of USB ports and functions that the 60GB version otherwise. The 80GB version is currently available only in the United States.
To make the best decision for you, you want to take a critical look at your needs. If you want a bare bones system that will make you discover the world wonderful for the PS3, then look no further than the 40 GB model If you want to save a lot of things on your PlayStation 3 or turn it into a computer, you should go ahead and get the 80 GB model. However, most people would do well to buy the 60GB model because it has all the storage, USB ports, and the features you could ever need back.
