Top 5 Games influential of all time
I'm sure someone who has never owned a video game console or played games on their PC has those few games that they remember most fondly. As the game industry has grown and evolved so too have the players themselves. Children playing Mario on their NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) and SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) are now spending hundreds of pounds the top end PC and Xbox 360.
I'm not different, and video games were a big part of my childhood growing up. Although many are stuck to spend hours watching TV shows the same stupid, I find that games consoles have a much richer experience. I 'm not alone and there are many great games I played over the years. The five following games are those that stand out above all others and those who have changed how I see the electronic entertainment.
Tetris was the first. As a boy of six years in 1990 I was the proud owner an original Nintendo Game Boy with Tetris included in the game only. Now it is obvious that someone so young I've never been very good in this area. I never saw the rocket that would have appeared if you scored very high, and I never finished the game. However, Tetris can not do for me was a spark of interest in computer games.
Founded in 1985 by Alexey Pajitnov packing set is one of the most popular and influential of all time. He has played in some form on almost every single device capable of running games since he first published. The version I played 18 years for the Game Boy is one of the most popular and the version who shot to international success. Tetris is always named in the top 5 of the 'greatest game of all time lists ", I expect for reasons similar to mine.
There were many games that have been overshadowed Tetris well in almost all aspects, but the fact remains that the first introduction to video games for thousands or even million people.
Next up is The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. A flagship title for the SNES in the early 90s, a link with the past was unlike anything I had ever played before. With two huge worlds to explore and a plot reminiscent of something from a Lord of the Rings the book he gave more play and replay a game I played. For the time the graphics and sounds have been wonderful and I spent many hours lost in the immersive game world.
The reason why I chose this game over his successor, Ocarina of Time, is that it is the first Zelda game I played, and as such has left a lasting impression. Although Ocarina of Time is generally considered rightly, as being the superior game, he had a link to the past that really made a huge success of the franchise Zelda.
Next game I chose for this paper is that is actually quite similar to A Link to the Past. It is made by a Japanese company, has a large exploration game the world, a large cast of characters, a captivating story and fantastic gameplay. Final Fantasy 7 was a huge success. The first of the series for an impact outside its native Japan the game has one of the most beautiful stories ever told in a video game.
This was the first game where I felt that games and films were really starting to merge. FF7 included several non-interactive cut scenes and FMV (full motion video) sequences increase the gameplay and help tell the story. Although many people are put off by the long pauses in the action and amount of heavy text to read, I find that the game has become like reading a book in which you could decide how the story would unfold and which characters would stars, and even if they live or die.
The success of Final Fantasy 7 has opened the way for many games like this made and prosper in the Western market, which generally had not warmed to Japanese RPG titles, preferring driving and fighting games. This is my conviction that even online games such as EverQuest and World of Warcraft has never known the level of success they have, if it was not for FF7.
Usually games based on movies are among the worst games you can play. I do not think I played a good before or since my entry follows. Important as was FF7 for the Playstation, and GoldenEye 007 for N64. A brilliant game that has contributed to FPS for consoles and features many pioneers who are simply taken for granted these days.
However, the reason I mentioned is not for Goldeneye player game, or for the revolutionary technology. It is for multiplayer. This was the game that made me realize that as fun as the games were, they were much more fun when playing with and against your friends instead of yourself. I lost countless hours of sleep in the late 90s all Goldeneye multiplayer sessions with friends Nighter school. A brilliant game and the best use of a license of film I can think of.
Last Up is a game that brought me back to the PC for games, and thanks to the huge modding community has kept me playing for years after its release original.
Half Life and its mods and suites that have followed have been and are still PC games definition of their generation. The first half Thurs Life has been praised for the immersion it offered the player, which tells the story entirely through the eyes of Gordon Freeman, never take control of your hand.
Half Life also had a huge and dedicated modding community. These people have created their own games and solo multiplayer using the Half Life engine and the SDK released by Valve. Among these mods Counter Strike is by far the most successful and was later released as a product Commercial. Counter Strike is also happened to be the game that introduced me to online games and on local networks, an extension of the game Popular multiplayer Goldeneye on the N64 a few years earlier.
Well these are the games that influenced me the most, it is really difficult select a top 5 and there is much that I missed. I'm sure some will agree with the games I listed and other will not be able to understand some of the titles I missed out. Hopefully in the future, we will see some games that push limits even further Eclipse and what we have seen so far.

Which handheld game console?
What do you suggest buying? Need advice. Looking to buy a handheld gaming console. I like play puzzle games, shooting. No attention to action / speed / substance war. Graphics do not matter much to me. I am looking for something light (Batteries?) And easy for several long plane flights. Nintendo? Playstation? Game Boy? I like logic puzzles, "find the cannonball" games, things like that. I have a very old Game Boy, but the console and extra batteries is very heavy and now only plays Tetris, etc. What do you think?
DS Lite is the best (since it plays both DS and Game Boy Advance game). But if you do not have much money, I fully recommend you get a Game Boy Micro: http://micro.gameboy.com/ It is lightweight and easy to carry around (in your pocket, purse, etc..) In addition, there are about 700 + Game Boy Advance games out there. The screen may seem small, but the lighting is incredible and small text is still legible. If you have the money for a DS Lite though, you can have the best of both worlds. Professor Layton and the Curious Village is a great puzzle game: http://uk.ds.ign.com/articles/927/927923p1.html
