In the context of field missions, Julie has visited refugee and displaced people during its first three years as Goodwill Ambassador.
Julie has been subject to criticism by pop diva Madonna for the use of past glory to help the United Nations. According to the pop singer, she has done more good in the world by adopting the disadvantaged.
Contrary to the allegations of Madonna, Julie was not visiting refugee camps, but she has also published Notes from My Travels, a collection journal entries chronicle her early field missions in 2001-2002 alongwith the release of one of his films. The proceeds from the sale of books was used to support UNHCR initiatives. As part of its humanitarian work, Julie was already associated with many social problems by funding a number of projects and has visited places such as Thailand, Ecuador, Kosovo, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Sri Lanka, Russia, North Caucasus etc.
Celebrity Status Julie is one of the newspapers. She used her celebrity to highlight humanitarian issues globally and get the support of others. For example, it has promoted World Refugee Day 2006 in a two hour interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN and this program has attracted more than double the audience of his typical newscast.
